Abstract (PL)

Uzyskane wyniki poddano analizie statystycznej, a następnie porównano je z tematycznie powiązanymi wynikami badań przedstawionymi w literaturze krajowej i zagranicznej.

Abstract (EN)

Cement concrete is a widely used construction material, but due to its porous structure it is susceptible to various forms of environmental aggression, which significantly affects its durability. A key problem related to the durability of concrete is the penetration of water and aggressive ions inside this material, resulting in the degradation of the material caused by cyclic exposure to frost, corrosion of reinforcement, carbonation or internal expansion of ettringite. Although there are many methods of protecting concrete, in recent years the procedure of hydrophobization has attracted increasing interest from researchers. Most often, it is performed superficially, while in our own research, structural hydrophobization was also carried out with new preparations in the form of liquid hydrophobizing formulations with nanocellulose. The scientific problem of the study was the effect of organosilicon compounds, a mixture of organosilicon compounds and an aqueous solution of crystalline, fibrillary or lamellar rectangular nanocellulose, as well as an aqueous solution of lamellar rectangular nanocellulose alone on the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of concrete. The aim of the study was to determine how the applied hydrophobizing formulations and admixtures affect properties of importance in terms of concrete durability. The results provided new knowledge on the effectiveness of the modification depending on the type and amount of organosilicon compounds and nanocellulose used, as well as on the selected hydrophobization method. In the study part of the dissertation, the structure of concrete was discussed in detail, with particular emphasis on its microstructure and its impact on the durability of the material. Various types of corrosion were analyzed, such as chloride corrosion, sulfate corrosion, biological corrosion and the impact of cyclic freezing and thawing, which cause significant degradation of concrete. An important element was the discussion of mechanisms of hydrophobic modification of cementitious composites, including methods based on templates, surface hydrophobization and structural admixtures. Focus was also placed on organosilicone compounds, analyzing their properties, factors affecting the effectiveness and durability of the modification, as well as possible negative effects of their use. In addition, the types, properties and production methods of nanocellulose were discussed, and the effects of organosilicon compounds and nanocellulose on the properties of cement composites were analyzed. In the research part, the results of the research necessary to solve the scientific problem are presented. A comprehensive comparative analysis of the results of concrete modified with organosilicon formulations, aqueous solution of nanocellulose and newly produced hydrophobizing agents was carried out. First, the focus was on the detailed characterization of the rectangular nanocellulose produced within the framework of the doctorate, in terms of its structure, chemical composition and thermal properties. Then the properties of aqueous suspensions containing different types of nanocelluloses, organosilicon formulations and new hydrophobizing agents with nanocelluloses were studied, focusing on their viscosity and density. The next stage analyzed their effects on the concrete mixture, studying its consistency, density and air content. The final stage, the most extensive, involved the study of hardened concrete. A number of tests were performed on physical and mechanical properties, such as density, porosity, water absorption, and strength. Particular attention was paid to testing for concrete durability, including resistance to cyclic negative temperatures, resistance to salt crystallization and UV resistance. The results obtained were subjected to statistical analysis, and then compared with thematically related research results presented in domestic and foreign literature. On this basis, final conclusions were formulated, which not only summarize the research achievements, but also indicate potential directions for further research. Studies have indicated that in order to simultaneously achieve both lower water absorption and satisfactory strength, frost resistance and resistance to salt crystallization, two–component admixtures should be used. Thanks to them, the surface of the concrete will be protected from excessive water penetration, and the structure of the cement slurry will be tightened, reducing capillary porosity. In addition, the in–house production of rectangular nanocellulose has an important ecological aspect, as it contributes to the reduction of waste paper, and the use of cheaper admixtures can bring economic benefits in the form of reduced concrete production costs. The results obtained in the study clearly confirmed the thesis made at the beginning of the dissertation, according to which concrete modified with organosilicon compounds and nanocellulose will have a higher durability than concrete without modification. Although hydrophobization does not eliminate all problems associated with the effects of external factors on concrete, its proper execution can significantly extend the life of this material. As a result, it leads to savings in natural resources and brings both economic and environmental benefits.
