The research problem of the dissertation is the development of an effective method of suppressing the pulsating component of the output current of a four-wire AC/DC converter. This component is generated during asymmetrical operation of the converter in question, whose individual phases load or supply a 3-phase LV line with active and reactive capacitive or inductive power. Such an inverter, cooperating with a battery bank, contributes to the symmetrisation of the current loads of the LV line, and thus symmetrises the voltages of this line. Current pulsations arising during unbalanced operation are dangerous for electrochemical batteries, accelerating their degradation and creating a high risk of damage. In the dissertation, a method of eliminating these pulsations was developed by using a compensating inverter that works with the super capacitor battery. High performance was achieved by using the author's method of decoupling current pulsations CPD (Current Pulsation Decoupler) on the DC bus of the inverter, characterised by original sensorless current measurement. The achieved results are supported by the results of modelling considerations, the design of the power electronic station and its control system with programming, simulation studies and laboratory test results. The findings confirm the effectiveness of the developed system and method of suppressing the pulsating component of the current and show that the research problem has been solved. It is expected that the solution offered will improve the reliability of four-wire AC/DC inverters and cooperating energy storage units.
