Abstract (PL)

W pracy przeprowadzono szeroką analizę numeryczną MES w środowisku ABAQUS®, obejmującą ponad 130 wariantów geometrycznych frustum, a także badania eksperymentalne z użyciem młota opadowego i szybkich kamer. Wyniki symulacji i eksperymentów wykazały dobrą zgodność, szczególnie w zakresie siły zgniotu i długości efektywnego zgniatania. W rozprawie zaprezentowano połączenie nowoczesnych technik symulacyjnych z metodami sztucznej inteligencji. Wyniki pracy mogą znaleźć zastosowanie w przemyśle motoryzacyjnym, kolejowym i lotniczym, gdzie kluczowe znaczenie ma bezpieczeństwo bierne oraz efektywność energetyczna konstrukcji.

Abstract (EN)

This dissertation is devoted to the analysis of thin-walled frustum-type structures (truncated pyramids) made of steel, both empty and filled with EPP foam. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of geometric parameters (height, wall thickness, inclination angle) on energy absorption indicators and to develop an optimization algorithm supporting the design of energy absorbers using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). The research involved an extensive FEM-based numerical analysis in the ABAQUS® environment, covering over 130 geometric variants of frustum structures, as well as experimental tests using a drop hammer and high-speed cameras. The results of simulations and experiments showed good agreement, particularly in terms of crushing force and effective crushing length. Foam filling significantly increased the energy absorption capacity and stabilized the deformation process. Indicators such as PCF, EA, MCF, CLE, TE, and SEA were thoroughly analyzed, and their values depended on the combination of geometric parameters. In the further part of the work, an optimization algorithm based on ANN was developed, enabling rapid prediction of optimal structural parameters for given energy absorption requirements. The algorithm was tested on a vehicle homologation structure, demonstrating its effectiveness in selecting a geometry that ensures the absorption of a specified amount of energy while maintaining dimensional constraints. The obtained results confirmed the validity of the research hypothesis and the achievement of the main objective of the dissertation. The dissertation presents methods for designing energy-absorbing structures, combining modern simulation techniques with artificial intelligence methods. The results can be applied in the automotive, railway, and aerospace industries, where passive safety and structural energy efficiency are of key importance.
