Niniejsza praca porusza ważny i aktualny temat utraty spójności przez miasta oraz propozycję naprawy zaistniałej sytuacji, a także zapobiegania jej w przyszłości. Autor nakreśla zarys rozwoju i idei miast, genezę integracji (scalania, wypełniania) oraz rolę i znaczenie architektury dla wizerunku miasta i jego kompozycji. Przedstawia analizę możliwych przyczyn utraty spójności współczesnego miasta, m.in. zastaną wadliwą strukturę przestrzenną miast niechciane dziedzictwo po epoce socjalizmu, suburbanizację, brak planów miejscowych. Proponuje również, po analizie prac uznanych autorytetów, autorską metodę scalania miejskiej struktury przestrzennej poprzez świadome kształtowanie form architektonicznych, ich rosnące znaczenie w tworzeniu związków "synergii" oraz definiuje spoiwo - "architekturę integracyjną". Receptą na utratę spójności jest scalanie miasta poprzez architekturę o przemyślanej i świadomej formie. Nowopowstające obiekty zaliczane do "architektury integracyjnej" korzystnie wpływają na poprawę obrazu miasta, sprawiając, że miasto odzyskuje spójność i staje się zwarte. Pełnią one nie tylko klasyczne, przypisane im funkcje (usługową, edukacyjną itd.) lecz również rozmaicie oddziaływują na krajobraz miasta: uzupełniają pierzeje uliczne, scalają przestrzenie kampusów i osiedli, kształtują osie kompozycyjne, integrują otoczenie, wzbogacają program usługowy. Autor analizuje wybrane przykłady z Europy i świata, szczególną uwagę zwracając na Lublin - miasto o wielowiekowej, bogatej i barwnej historii, obecnie borykające się z postindustrialnym dziedzictwem, ale jednocześnie odznaczające się dużym potencjałem i dążące do zmiany wizerunku. Lublin odzyskuje utraconą spójność właśnie poprzez architekturę: stał się miejscem realizowania wielu interesujących inwestycji, które scalają miasto. Autor dzieli je na trzy grupy: inwestycje integrujące miasto z regionem (m.in. lotnisko w Świdniku), inwestycje integracyjne wyższych uczelni (Politechniki Lubelskiej, Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego oraz Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej) oraz inwestycje o charakterze publicznym, scalające miasto place, parki i budynki. Analizuje również program ożywienia lubelskich osiedli, które wymagają modernizacji i uzupełnienia nowymi obiektami, oraz programu scalania miasta poprzez rozwiązania komunikacyjne. Całość pracy uzupełniają aneksy, dotyczące m.in. społecznego aspektu integracji we Wschodnim Innowacyjnym Centrum Architektury Politechniki Lubelskiej oraz Strategii Rozwoju Miasta Lublina, a także słownik pojęć oraz bibliografia, spis ilustracji i tabel.
Abstract EN
The work deals with a very important and current problem of the loss of integrity in cities. It also contains a suggestions on the present situation improvement and preventing the problem in the future. The author provides an outline of the development and the concept of cities. He describes the integration origin (merging, filling), and the role and meaning of architecture in city image and city composition. The author analyses possible reasons for integrity loss in contemporary cities, among others: the present faulty spatial structure of cities - unwanted heritage from socialism, suburbani- sation, and the lack of zoning plans. Having analysed the works of distinguished authorities, the author suggests his own method of integrating urban spatial structure via conscious creation of architectural forms, and their increasing significance in the forming of "synergy" relations. The "integration architecture" is defined as the binder. City integration via conscious and well-thought architectural forms is a remedy for the loss of city integrity. The created buildings, which are a part of "integration architecture" influence the image of a city in a beneficial way. As a consequence, cities regain their integrity and become coherent. Their functions are not only the classic ones (services, education, etc.) since, in various ways, they also influence city landscapes. They complete street frontages, integrate campuses and housing estates, create composition axes, integrate surroundings, and enrich the services. The author analyses some examples from Europe and the rest of the world, devoting special attention to Lublin a centuries-old city with rich and fascinating history, nowadays facing its post-industrial heritage. Yet the city with enormous potential, which pursues the goal to change its image. Lublin is regaining its lost integrity through architecture: it has become a place where a number of noteworthy city integrating projects have been realized. The author divides them into three groups: investments that integrate the city with the region (among others: the airport in Świdnik), university integration investments (Lublin University of Technology, the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and Maria Curie Skłodowska University) and public investments integrating the city squares, parks and buildings. The author also analyses the plan of reviving the housing estates in Lublin, as they require modernisation and addition of new objects. One more aspect analysed is the plan of the city integration via communication solutions. The whole work is supplemented with annexes concerning, among others, social aspect of integration in Eastern Innovation Centre for Architecture of Lublin University of Technology and Strategia Rozwoju Miasta Lublina (Lublin Develop-ment Strategy), and a glossary.
