In this book the issue of cross-wedge rolling process (CWR) is presented. On the basis o specialist literature the CWR methods and machines used in this manufacturing technology were analysed. Using the numerical modelling methods, the applied so far cross - wedge rolling methods were compared. In order to lower the costs of implementation of CWR, a new variant of this technology was proposed, in which only one flat wedge and two rolls were used. This new forming process was called wedge-rolls rolling (WRR) method. Depending on the wedge and rolls shape (smooth or profiled rolls), six schemata of WRR process were described. Moreover, the dependencies showing geometrical aspects in particular schemata of WRR were introduced. The next part of the book deals with the experimental research of the WRR process. Experiments were made on the basis of the prototype laboratory rolling mill LUW-2, which was equipped with sets of wedges and rolls. These wedges and rolls were chosen in such a way that it was possible to verify all six schemata of WRR. During tests shafts were rolled (with a single necking) from model materials (lead and aluminium) and from real materials (steel C45). While forming in hot and cold forming conditions, the basic kinematics and force parameters were measured. It was proved that using the WRR method it was possible to produce axi-symmetrical parts, full or hollowed ones. Another chapter of the book deals with the numerical analysis of the WRR process. Due to the complex character of forming, calculations were made using the finite element method (FEM) in the conditions of 3D state of strain. During calculations, numerical simulations of over 100 cases of WRR were made. This allowed for detailed analysis of the wedge-rolls rolling process within the range of: state of strain, state of stress, force parameters and factors disturbing the forming stability. The last chapter of the book is devoted to the technological possibilities of WRR. The issue was presented for examples of five products (chosen from the assortment of national forging plants) which can be successfully manufactured basing on the WRR method. For all analysed products tools designing solutions were given and results of numerical simulations verifying the rightness of the assumed solutions were presented.
